The House

The House
Accommodation East Coast Tasmania

The French House was originally built in St Helen’s in 1992 by a French fisherman who longed to create a replica of his parents ancestral home in France.

You’ll find nods to European architecture throughout the home. There’s a large open kitchen with warm timber beams darting across the ceiling, French windows that open up onto beds of colourful hydrangeas and carefully thought out ducted heating with small standing heaters found in each room to ensure you’re comfortable in every season.

Bedrooms

There are four bedrooms upstairs each with their own ensuite, double bed and bar fridge to guarantee that even when you travel with a large group you can find respite throughout the day. The master bedroom downstairs has warm timber floors, a slightly larger ensuite and a choice of a free standing heater or split system for heat. All bedrooms have high-quality linen with extra blankets available for those colder Tasmanian nights, with central heating accessible for all bedrooms upstairs.

Indoor and Outdoor Entertaining Areas

The main lounge welcomes you with a fireplace as the centerpiece of the room, chess tables and a variety of seating options to make everyone feel comfortable and at home.

When it comes to the heart of the home, the kitchen has a very high quality gas stove with two ovens, a separate griller and a plate warmer feature. There is a full size fridge and separate freezer in the pantry so feel free to stock up at the local IGA and make yourself feel at home.

After you’ve cooked up a storm you can take a seat at our large, locally made Tasmanian timber table. A true centerpiece it’s placed next to a fireplace to ensure you can enjoy long gatherings together throughout your stay whether it be over breakfast, lunch or dinner.

For summer evenings we suggest venturing outside into our French inspired courtyard that is accessed from the kitchen. Covered with flowers and dotted with mixed herb planter boxes for you to take advantage of, it truly is a magical place to sit and wind down after a long day at the beach or on the trails. Outside we also have a BBQ for you to make use of and an outdoor table that seats 10.

The Nitty Gritty

If you need to do a load of washing (to make yourself feel even more at home!) you’ll find a modern washer and dryer downstairs to the left of the manor. There is a clothes line within two metres from the laundry if you would prefer to air dry your belongings too. If you’re looking for ‘accommodation East Coast Tasmania‘ then The French House is for you. For short or long stays, our place is yours.
